SOLO TRAVEL IN ANTARCTICA WITH PREET CHANDI
Solo travel in Antarctica with Preet Chandi
Preet Chandi is an army officer, nordic skier, ultra-marathon runner and an endurance athlete. She is also from a very ‘normal’ background.
She is currently training for an expedition to Antarctica in November of this year, and aims to be the first Asian woman to complete the 700 mile hike to The South Pole, completely on her own and unsupported. She will be dragging her 70kg supplies with her.
In this episode we talk about smashing stereotypes and the importance of pushing yourself way outside of your comfort zone. Preet shares her story of how it all started with a half marathon and a Google search!

Preet started her love of the outdoors by playng tennis, and when she wanted to take that one step further, joined the army as reserve.
She has since taken part in marathons, ultra marathons (includng the Marathon des Sables), and undertaken a 6 month UN peacekeeping tour to South Sudan with the army. She is also working toward becoming a Nordic ski instructor.
You can find out more at Preet’s website, about her incredible work and charity work (where 50% of the funding from her gofundme page will go toward an adventure grant for females conducting unusual challenges.
I want to say a huge thank you to Preet for taking the time to talk to me. Preet is living proof that you can do whatever you put your mind to if you just take it one day at a time. As her website says, ““Nothing is impossible” I’ve always had this idea that I can achieve something great, something that allows me to be a role model. I want my 8 year old niece to grow up without boundaries, knowing the possibilities of what you can achieve in life are endless.”
