How to create beautiful travel memories, with Candace Rardon
Originally from Virginia, USA and currently living in Montevideo, Uruguay, Candace Rose Rardon is a travel writer, illustrator and visual storyteller.
Her beautiful sketches have appeared in publications such as National Geographic and BBC Travel, and she is also a contributing Sleep Story writer for the meditation app Calm. Her unique method of travel narrative has often helped whisk me away to foreign lands when I try to get to sleep, and her sketches have taken her around the world, showing her a whole new side to the country she’s visiting. In this episode, we talk about journalling, drawing, travel and tea (her new book ‘Stuff Every Tea Lover Should Know’) is out now.

What I love about Candace’s story, is that her experiences are so unpredictable, and so serendipitous. From being commissioned by National Geographic to sketch Machu Picchu, to being approached by Calm to write relaxing, escapist ‘Sleep Stories’, such as ‘The magic of Yurts’, set in the Canadian Wilderness, or ‘Two Shades of Blue’ on a sleepy shore in Thailand. All written and recorded to help you drift off.
If you’re anything like me, and have trouble sleeping, this is a wonderful way to fall asleep.
