17 TRAVEL ADVENTURE QUOTES TO FUEL YOUR WANDERLUST

17 travel adventure quotes to fuel your wanderlust

Sometimes it’s hard to actually get away, and with many trips, comes nerves, uncertainty or just plain fear. What if something goes wrong, what if I feel lonely or what happens if I don’t actually enjoy myself? I have these concerns with pretty much every trip I take. Sometimes it’s almost to the point of not wanting to go (those are my last minute nerves!). But I never cancel and that apprehension always vanishes into thin air when I get to my new destination.

I pulled together some of the best quotes about travel and adventure, to inspire you to simply book that ticket and take that trip! As Helen Keller said: ‘Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all’.’

Inspirational travel adventure quotes

“Blessed are the curious, for they shall have adventures.” – Lovelle Drachman

Never a truer word spoken. Curiosity opens our minds to other cultures, other cities, languages, food! And life can only be richer for it.

(This photo credit goes out to the wonderful Emma Littlewood) you can read about her adventures in Myanmar here.

‘In the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.’
― Jack Kerouac

Too right Jack. Who cares about the material things or the chores that could possibly be skipped once in a while? Save your money, Get outside and explore!

‘Once a year go some place you’ve never been before’

― Dalai Lama

I love this quote from The Dalai Lama. Meeting new people and venturing to a new part of the world gives us a fresh perspective and can make us see things in a new light.

‘Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts.’ – Mark Twain

This feels so poignant right now, with the way the world is! This is not just one of the best travel quotes ever, but also a lesson on broadening horizons and having an open mind. I don’t think you need to travel to the other side of the world to open your eyes, you can usually even learn something new from the next town down the road! Listen to this podcast episode with Dave Cornthwaite about how to have more adventures.

Inspirational travel quotes for women

‘I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass.’ – Maya Angelou

I think every woman, Young and old needs this quote on a daily basis. Life can be tough but women are tougher.

‘The most effective way to do it, is to do it’ – Amelia Earhart

I guess we’re all a bit guilty of procrastinating a bit. Whether it’s putting off booking that flight, committing to a long trip or simply being a little nervous about it all. But unless you actually do it, you’ll never know. Stepping out of your comfort zone is always worth it.

To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the most pleasant sensations in the world. You are surrounded by adventure.’ – Freya Stark

I couldn’t agree more with Freya Stark. How exciting it is to wake in a new city – what adventures await?

‘The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.’ – Oprah Winfrey

How do you life your life by this Oprah quote? Take the first step! Start saving, apply for that job overseas or just tell your friends. Its all gotta start somewhere!

‘Travel is worth any cost or sacrifice’. ― Elizabeth Gilbert

I think a lot of us worry about who or what we might leave behind when we travel. And how we can possibly afford it? But it’s always worth it. If you’re getting stuck on how to afford travel, check this blog post about how to make travel much more affordable and realistic.

You are the one that possesses the keys to your being. You carry the passport to your own happiness.’ – Diane von Furstenberg

Helen Keller’s inspirational quote should push us all to have adventures. Who wants to live a predictable monotonous life?

‘If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun’ ― Katharine Hepburn

This is one of my favourite quotes ever. We don’t need to conform to the rules that society expects of us. Whether that’s a certain career path, relationship status, or living by ticking a series of ticks off a checklist. Everyone’s idea of happiness is different and there’s no right or wrong path. Just be true to yourself and you’ll definitely have more fun.

‘I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.’
― Mary Anne Radmacher

I love this rather magical travel quote. Travel changes us in ways we can’t even imagine before we set off. It’s also great to keep a diary to re-read years later to see how far we have come.

Travel quotes to inspire you to book that ticket!…

‘If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine; it is lethal.’ – Paulo Coelho

I love this quote about adventure and travel. I still get nervous before every single trip I take, because I’m stepping out of my comfort zone. But what’s worse than stepping out of your comfort zone? Staying in your comfort zone.

‘To venture causes anxiety, but not to venture is to lose one’s self’ – Søren Kierkegaard

I wrote a post about solo travel anxiety. Which I think is more common than I first thought. Personally I still get really nervous before every single trip. Whether it’s a short weekend down the road or travelling to the other side of the world. I get so nervous it’s almost like I don’t want to go! But I now recognise these feelings as part of the journey. And my worries melt away once I arrive.

‘The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.’

― St. Augustine

If we don’t travel, then we’re truly missing out on what this world has to offer. If we are lucky enough to be able to travel then we should take every opportunity that comes our way.

‘Travel brings power and love back into your life.’
― Rumi

I think this is true in so many ways. It could be bringing love from your family, friends or even yourself. The confidence travel can bring to your life can manifest in so many ways.
